Flu Season

Background: A contract between the city and Starett Realestates gives Starett 18 square
kilometers of the Redmond barrens. The area is populated with the SINless though, and
no means have removed them permanantly. David Lindley, an executive and director of the
Redmond project, has found a new way to remove the SINless, without knowledge of the
press or government. The R&D labs have created a version of HMHVV, the Human Metahuman
Vampric Virus. With this, they will have an excuse to destroy the area and rubble,
along with the SINless vampires. His project is top secret, with only him and a few
others knowing about it. He also has contract deals with ChemTech, a bioengineering and chemcial research and production corporation, and Contract Arms, and mercenary group, to get rid of the vampires in the area, and any SINless survivors. Once the SINless are removed, a cure will "appear" for the virus, and then Starett can contiune with it's operations.

FLU SEASON ADVENTURE OUTLINE

Street Doc
Paul McGuintney has been practicing his skills in the barrens to the SINless and Shadowrunner alike for the past 8 years. He has always been a valuable asset to the community, so he was kept under protection by the various gangs. But latey, his last 2 shipments have been attacked. It has happened too many times just to be mere conicidence. He hires some local runners to, A) Protect his next shipment that he is sending to the other side of the barrens to his partner, and B) to find out who attacked the last 2 shipments. He will pay 900¥ total for the job. He can pay up to 1,100¥ if bargained with. He cannot pay more then that, as that is all he has. All money will be paided after the goods are delievered. He needs the package delievered in no less then 3 hours, and it is already around midnight.

En Route
The running seems to be going fine, until at one point the team nearly collides with some pedestrian. The vehicle gets a fender bender that will require some one the spot repairs (some things tubes came loose, make a vehicle b/r test against target number 3, or intelligence test against target number 6, base time 10 minutes). The pedstrian stands up, and turns out to be a vampire (see squatter vampire archetype). He will retreat before he can do any drain damage to the runners, and will retreat back into an ally. If the players follow, they will not find him again. The vampire is gone after taking anything greater then moderate damage. Another vampire will show up afterwards (use Ricktus vampire character). This one will make a more formidable opponent. He is equiped with a katana, only made in a wavey blade style. He will flee after taking serious damage. When he flees, he will leave behind his sword. If he is killed, then in his wallet is a business card: "Professional for hire, Ricktus"

Meeting with the Partner
The runners will be paid in full by McGuintney's partner Stephan Simpson. Stephan will make inquiries about anything that happened on the way over. When described the appearance of the attackers, Stephan will identify them as vampires. When they tell him about the sword that they saw on the 2nd vampire, Stephan will also identify him as Ricktus, a runner who does odd jobs around the barrens area. Stephan will contact McGuintney and then offer a job to the runners to bring back a vampire to their care. They cannot offer much in the way of money, but they will offer free medical treatments save for the cost of any materials needed. They have a plan to trap a vampire by leaving the runners out as bait on the next night.

Night Bait
Around 2 am, the runners will be attacked by a squatter vampire archetype. Either way, the runners must find a way to trap the vampire, and attach a sleep patch on him to make him unconcious. The Docs will come and bring him into their van.

Anaylisis
The Docs will reveal the following:
On the vampire, they will find a brand new credstick with 500 nuyen on it. Such a thing is quite rare. The imprint of the credstick will have Global Industries Bank written on it.

Matrix Information
A decker will have to search out the bank's matrix system for a file with the transaction of exactly 500 nuyen, and who made the deposit. There will only be one match, with Fredrick Maxwell giving 500 nuyen to credstick form. The credstick ID number will match the one found on the SINless man. Fredrick Maxwell is an employee at ChemTech, in the patholigical department. The decker will not be able to find out where Maxwell lives, but will be able to find the blueprints of the ChemTech building from their own network. He will also be able to pinpoint the area where Maxwell's lab is. Any other information will be on Maxwell's computer in the lab, which is not connected to the network. The runners will have to infiltrate the lab itself and access the computer.

ChemTech
The ChemTech building is a crescent shape building with fountain in the entrance area. It is 5 stories high, with 2 basements. Maxwell's lab is on the far edge of the building, with a window side laboratory. The lab consists of a small storage room, the main lab area, and a secured lock up chamber that holds different pathogens and other bacteria and viruses. Since the lab does contain new formulas and equipment, it does have moderate security. This includes keycards for the security doors (located between labs and on lab doors) and elevators. The building has cameras in all the hallways. The building has 8 guards on duty at all times, including a wage mage (who has a rating 4 earth elemental summoned). The computer in Maxwell's lab has no security except for a rating 3 White Access IC. Once pass through that, the decker can access any information. On the computer, the decker will discover the plot to make the virus, and the plot that Starett Real Estate agent Kent Williams is plotting on moving out the residents on his newly purchased section of the redmond barrens. He also has a side note of Contract Arms is going to evacuate and/or kill all SINless in the area, under the guise that they are exterminating all the vampires in the area. The attack is schedule to start in 30 minutes after the runners read the note.

Exposure
McGuintney has a plan for exposing the Starett deal. He contacts his media producer contact, tells them the story. Brett Horner will agree to fly in a chopter to the barrens and film the events. It will be the runner's job to protect the chopter and make sure that nothing happens to it. The Contract Arms team is composed of 12 people, armed with various automatic weapons. One of them has a surface to air missile launcher. The runners must ensure that it is taken out. After a few minutes, more runners will be engage the Contract Arms team. Also some armed SINless will aid in combat. Seeing this larger force, they will pull out of the area in an APC.

Epilouge
A full investigation will start on Starett's, ChemTech's, and Contract Arms' involvment with the HMHVV outbreak in the area. Now equipped with the cure recieved from the ChemTech raid, McGuintney and Simpson will be able to cure anymore outbreaks that appear. The runners' job is done.

Paul McGunitney
McGunitney is a vetern of the Desert Wars, serving as a combat medic. Tired of having his skills used in corporate war games. So he took up residence in his hometown of Seattle, driving around his own ambulance which is also his operating table/bedroom. He is a bit eccentric at times, but in a crisis, he is serious and solemn.
Stephan Simpson
In the top 5% of his class from his medical school in San Fransico, Simpson sought out McGunitney. A bit of a yuppie, Simpson concentrates on genetics and biological cures. McGuintney is his wise mentor, and that is the only reason he puts up with the shadyy surrondings of the barrens and the incredibly low pay.
Ricktus
The former shadowrunner was a street samurai who did mildly important jobs for people including extractions, headhunting, and the average bounty hunting. He was a resident of the barrens, and an unfortunate victim when attacked by a vampire during a stakeout. He was a gentle person, never taking wetwork for a job and always packed himself with gel rounds in his clips, but could be a formidable foe when angered.
Fredrick Maxwell
A anti-socialble scientist, Maxwell worked alone on his projects. He was steadily growing in his career, and took up Starett's deal to recreate the HMHVV disease. Quick to panic, he was also paid extra to keep his mouth shut about the incident.
Kent Williams
Kent Williams is the director of the entire Redmond operations. He say no legal way to remove the SINless there. He also wanted to avoid any undue media attention to the project. So he hired Maxwell to create a virus, then the government would hire (under Starett's lobbying) Contract Arms to exterminate all vampires in the area. Williams is a back stabber, and will make anyone expendible to futhur his own profits.
Brett Horner
Horner is a top notch reporter for the local news station. He has been sent many times to foreign countries to report and investigate, namingly in the Native American Nations and secretly inside the Tir Tairngire borders. He is neutral in any arguement, which is the best way for a reporter not to make enemies.
Jack Myers
Jack Myers is a rigger who helped out Horner in getting out of the Tir Tairngire border while on a run himself. The ex-shadowrunner now has a steady job flying the news chopter, but longs for the sound of gunfire and the revving of his engines.
