Night Stroll

Clear, crisp night in Seattle. Wedge waved off the Mr. Johnson. The run was done. His credstick
was fat and happy. But Wedge couldn't relax. Not on a night like this. The Redmond barrens was
on the down side of Seattle. A place that the more wealthy wanted to be scooped away into the
sewer. The Redmond barrens was the last place Wedge wanted to be at night. His bike had just gotten
stolen the other day here. He clung to his cyberdeck, his prized possesion. Without it, he was nothing.
"Old Uncle Jeffery's money paid for this,", Wedge though, "and I ain't gonna lose it to some bum."

Of course, there are worse things cralwing around at night in the barrens. Vampires. It was on
the news everywhere. Big breakout of HMHsomething. This though made him hold his gun tightly.

"Why didn't I ask Vaden to help me on this run?", he asked himself. Vaden was only a contact, but
Wedge looked apon him as a mentor, the father who died in the train accident along with his mother.
It was the second honeymoon that ended before it started.

"I can do this."

Wedge started to walk faster. "Just make it to the bridge and I can get on the bus."

Footsteps.

Wedge was startled and almost turned around. "Keep cool."

He started walking at a faster rate, the footsteps increasing their speed also. He borke out running.
Whatever was chasing him was incredibly fast. "Vampires are incredibly fast."

He ran, there was a shriek behind and him and as Wedge turned around he saw the man flying at him.
His eyes burned red that could be caused by no cybereyes in existance. Wedge was afraid. Very afraid.

A gunshot broke his thought as the vampire was thrown back by an unseen force.

"Need some cover?" It was Vaden. Wedge breathed a sigh of relief.

They walked together, then they both heard it.

Footsteps.
